Tanned and rested from spending the holidays in Hawaii, Speaker of the US House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sent a letter to the White House today rescinding her earlier invitation to President Trump to give his State of the Union address on January 29th.
She suggested that President Trump either 1) postpone his address until after the partial shutdown has ended or 2) submit his State of the Union speech in writing to the House & Senate. Written form would, of course, keep the populist president off television where the American people like to hear from him.
WHY NOW? STATE OF THE UNION DATE IS 13 DAYS AWAY
In her letter, Fancy Nancy claimed there is a lack of security resources due to the partial government shutdown. She made this claim without contacting the Secret Service who provides security for the State of the Union Address each year.
According to the Department of Homeland Security the partial government will not affect security while most members of the House, the Senate, the Cabinet and the Supreme Court are present in the House Chamber.
TO HELL WITH AMERICANS, FOREIGN NATIONALS ARE MORE IMPORTANT
Ignoring a luncheon invitation to meet with Trump on Tuesday, it now appears that the Dems are settling in for the long haul. They want to keep the government partially shutdown until all foreign nationals who want to come across our southern border have done so. Or, hearing about the second caravan forming in Honduras, Trust Fund Baby Nancy Pelosi wants to offer them sanctuary in her walled mansion. THEN she will agree to build The Wall.
Nancy’s letter to the White House:
“Both the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security have not been funded for 26 days now – with critical departments hamstrung by furloughs.
“Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29th.”
