The 2020 Presidential campaign has already set off with a very unusual request. Many 2020 Democratic Hopefuls to go up against President Donald J. Trump have asked a known loser for her advice.
Is It Advice Or Permission?
According to Axios Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Cory Booker, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti all have approached 2008 & 2016 Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton for advice on running. Are they really asking advice from a two time loser? Hillary Clinton first failed to secure the nomination in 2008 against then Senator Barack Obama. After losing a very hard fought election in 2016, Hillary Clinton wen’t on a book tour blaming everyone BUT HERSELF for losing the 2016 election. Excuse after excuse on why she lost turned many Americans off. A failed speaking tour that was canceled should be enough to turn any Democratic hopeful in 2020 away from asking the advice of Hillary Clinton.
I’m told this has been going on for months and will continue, since Clinton will talk to any Democrat who wants to talk. (Plus, she sees people incidentally all the time.)Axios
“A bunch have picked her brain,” a longtime Clinton confidant said.
“Hillary wants Trump gone,” the confidant said. “She doesn’t know who’s best able to beat him, but she knows about grueling nomination fights.”
The potential candidates “know tens of millions of Democrats love Hillary and want her to try again.”
“The savvy ones know she’s the most valuable endorser in the party not named Obama.”
Nick Merrill, Clinton’s spokesman, told me: “I won’t comment on private discussions she’s had except to say that she’s more than happy to talk to anyone considering a run about the challenges (as well as the great things) that go with it, and lessons learned on what to watch for in this next cycle (aside from Vladimir).”
Makes zero sense to anyone willing to vote Democrat in 2020. It’s going to take a super candidate to beat President Trump. Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Michigan & Florida all have to be won by Democrat to beat President Trump. Swing states are crucial. With the 2018 midterms in the rear view mirror, Democrat are very hopeful for a landslide victory in 2020!
