Hillary Clinton and The Democrats Are Shaking In Their Britches.
The Only Problem Is The FBI Is So Corrupt, and Clinton knows it. She knows there are a lot of leftovers from Her Husband, and Obama’s administrations that she’s safe. We’ve got news for her. She isn’t safe from the American people.
Elder Patriot -Washington Examiner reporter Byron York is a meticulous investigator who never allows himself to get ahead of the facts. That is what makes the tweet he posted yesterday so significant.
The first question this raises is what are the other 60 or so Republicans doing with their time? The Dems? They’re like my wife who turns the other way when we pass a crash on the highways.
The subject is the Top-Secret memo that outlines surveillance abuses. According to those who have read it, the four-page memo reveals what some Republicans are calling “shocking,” “troubling,” and “alarming” government surveillance abuses under President Obama. Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) likened the details of the memo currently circulating in Congress to “KGB activity in Russia.”
After reviewing the memo Representative Mark Meadows (R-NC) said: “It’s troubling. It is shocking. Part of me wishes that I didn’t read it because I don’t want to believe that those kinds of things could be happening in this country that I call home and love so much.”
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said that when the details of the document become known, not only are some Obama holdovers currently serving in the Trump administration going to get fired, they are going to jail:
“I believe the consequence of its release will be major changes in people currently working at the FBI and Department of Justice.” Gaetz told multiple interviewers that he was “referencing DOJ officials Rod Rosenstein and Bruce Ohr.”
“If the American people knew what was happening — if they saw the contents of this memo — a lot would become clear about the information that I’ve been talking about on television for the last several months.”
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, who also serves on the Intelligence Committee, are working with Bob Goodlatte, the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee on a plan to make sure the American people see the memo as soon as possible.
Because of Democrats intransigence on the matter (only 3 Dems has even read the four-page memo) Gowdy, Nunes, and Goodlatte are charting a path that would employ a never before used procedure to make it public.
The rule provides the House Intelligence Committee members to vote to make the memo public. After that, the president would have five days to object.
If the president had no objection, the memo would become public after those five days. If the president did object, the matter would go to the full House, which could vote to overrule the president’s objections and release the memo anyway.
There is a chance that for political optics President Trump would object and force House Speaker Paul Ryan to make the entire Republican caucus make the vote to release the memo.
There is little chance that Republican lawmakers would vote not to release the memo because Trump could always de-classify it later as he has the right to do. How would many GOP members of Congress risk unmask themselves as protectors of the swamp by taking that chance? As one legislator who remained anonymous said, “It’s amazing what the pitchforks and the torches will do.”
